The New England Orienteering Club

  • Coming soon: In-person event at Rocky Woods on Sunday, Sept. 25. With six courses, a covered pavilion, beautiful woods, and a good trail network, there is something for everyone. Please consider volunteering, too! You can sign up for a shift here.
  • NEOC 50th Anniversary Dinner, Oct. 8: We are celebrating NEOC's 50th Anniversary this year. Sign up for the Oct. 8 dinner via EventReg. It is an option as part of the Masters Championship sign-up. Join us for dinner! Interested in helping put on this event or have some club memorabilia to display? Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. • Recreational Courses at Bigelow Hollow (Oct. 8 & 9): In addition to the national ranking event courses at Bigelow Hollow (Union, CT), members can run recreational courses (white/yellow/orange) for free. Although day-of registration is allowed (if a map is available), we'd prefer all participants pre-register. Members should use coupon code 2022NEOCMember during check-out.
  • OUSA Masters Championship, Oct. 8-9, on the new map (Carl Underwood, 2020) of Bigelow Hollow State Park, Union, CT. Prices for competitive categories go up on Sep. 19, so register today.
    • Day-Of Competition Volunteers. In our normal volunteer sign-up, you’ll see plenty of opportunities to help with this two-day national ranking event. Most shifts are short, and all allow you to compete in the normal start window. After all, we expect our club members to have great results.
    • Special Volunteer Roles. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if interested.
      • Test Runners. Can’t attend Masters Champs for some reason? Consider test running the courses in late Sept. or early Oct. Courses will be streamered and vetted. You’ll be ineligible to compete, but your times will help us make sure the lengths are right, etc.
      • Lunch Fundraiser for National Team. We have park permission to do a fundraiser for OUSA’s National Team or Development Team or other orienteering-related non-profit cause. In the past, these have been lunch sales of burgers/dogs or sandwiches, etc. We have a system to take orders ready to go, but are looking for someone to spearhead this effort.
      • Post-race Refreshment Coordinator. We are returning to the tradition of appropriate post-race refreshments at the finish. Role is on the Day-Of Sign-up, but has obvious pre-event needs.
      • Start, Parking, and Results Team Leads. While these are primarily day-of roles, a single park visit with the MD/park staff in the final lead-up to the event is necessary to see event locations and set the team up for success. And, the team lead checks on equipment & supplies before the event and coordinates for the team’s equipment transportation.
  • Cambridge Middle School Orienteering Coaches: Navigation Games is looking for coaches for its Cambridge, MA middle school teams. Coaching involves 4 to 5 once-a-week sessions at local parks.
