Just received from Valerie Murray:
Yesterday Mil Plant passed away peacefully in her sleep, in her special cozy cabin, surrounded by family. For the past few years Mil has been living in Clark, near Steamboat Springs, next to her daughter Barb's home. Mil (and of course Jim) will be remembered by many of us, both old and young, for all they did for orienteering from the very early years in New England, and later here in the high country.
There will be a family gathering this coming Saturday in Frisco at 2 pm at the Plant home there. Friends are welcome.
Your memories of Mil Plant would be very much appreciated ..... send them along to

Area orienteers from the 1980s will remember Mil, and her husband Jim. She won the Women's 55+ class for NEOC at the 1985 U.S. Championships.
All NEOC members are invited to co-direct a NEOC meet this fall. There are many openings on the schedule. We will match first-timers with a "veteran" meet director to ensure your success.
Please contact Barb Bryant if you are willing to consider this opportunity!
This Match is now fully funded, but you can still make an "un-matched" donation!
Thanks to Michael, and to everyone else who donated.
New England Orienteering Club
Annual General Members Meeting & Picnic
June 26, 2016 - Houghton's Pond, Milton MA
Held in conjunction with O-meet
Everyone is invited to orienteer and picnic. NEOC members can elect half of the club's Board of Directors.
Check the schedule listing for June 26, where details will be posted about the Score-O, picnic/barbeque, and meeting, including time and what to bring. It's a great chance to relax after orienteering, enjoy good food and company.
The election will fill five positions on the Board of Directors. At this time there are only four candidates for those positions. If you or someone you know would consider serving on the board contact Jim Paschetto, head of the 2016 Nominating Committee.
Nine American university students are representing the US at the World University Orienteering Championship in Hungary this summer. (View the roster.)
To help offset the cost, we're selling magnets to put on your cars showing your support of USA orienteering (size is 8" x 3").
Since they're magnets, you can put them on or remove them as you want. You can use them here in MA, and bring them to put on a rental car whenever you travel for orienteering. We're selling them for $10 each. If you're interested, please contact me, Isabel Bryant.
