It was a beautiful day for an orienteering meet, and Breakheart Reservation was a lovely location for the U.S. Team fundraiser meet.  Thanks to everyone who came, as you helped to raise a bunch of money to send local NEOC team members to the world championships this summer, in Lausanne, Switzerland.  The team really appreciates your help.  We had over 100 people show up to the meet, and most seemed to enjoy themselves!  Apologies to runners on red for the abundance of trail running - next time, I will be sure to send you through much more thick blueberry and uncrossable greenbriar, as requested.  Summer orienteering in New England should be a character-building activity!  Bring on the deerflies!

I could not have done this alone, and my helpers were all amazing.  The first crew was Alison Crocker, Brendan Shields, and Giacomo Barbone, helping to vet control locations in the rain.  Then on the day of the event, Meg Parson and Alison helped me get out all of the controls, and Ian Smith arrived with water and refreshments, which, on a hot day, were definitely necessary!  Huge thanks to Pete Lane and Jim Paschetto, who were there all day to help manage crowd control and the administrative and technical side of the meet, and to John Kernochan, without whom we'd never have gotten through registration so smoothly! And thanks to Calvin Underwood (sidelined with an injury), who helped at the computer while the rest of his family ran.  I am also infinitely grateful to all my helpers for control pick-up, including Pete Frykman, Alison, Brendan, Ian, Meg, and Ed Despard.  Many hands do indeed make light work, and certainly made my job a lot easier!
