Controls will be in the woods from April 18-26. Please print your own map (see link below) and complete the courses any time you want. Be courteous and follow "social distancing" guidelines in the parking lot and in the woods. 

Timing methods available

  • Time yourself, and record your result here.
  • Use QR-Code timing, explained here. (Smartphone with data connection required.)

Please do not touch the control flags or QR codes since they are not sanitized.
Note that the ticks are out. Take precautions & check yourself afterwards. 

Hale Reservation is periodically closing its roads and parking lots to prevent overcrowding. Please check their website (hale1918.org) before traveling to Hale on any given day to check that Hale is open. 

We ask that folks do not travel beyond their local area for these activities and follow local, state, and federal policies relating to COVID-19. Risk associated with participation is solely your own.

These courses are available on RouteGadget (in the Results menu). Share your route & finish time after your run! (Either upload a .gpx file or draw your route manually.)


Courses start from the Cat Rock parking lot. Enter Hale Reservation on Carby Street in Westwood; proceed to open field on left. Parking on left just beyond field.

From Dover Rd., proceed NW on Carby St., entering Hale Education.
Drive approx. 0.3 miles from entrance to parking area on left.

For BYOM events, use your course map to locate the Start, near the parking area.

NEOC reimburses expenses, but the time and energy come from people who love orienteering!
