Welcome to the 2024 Spring Park Orienteering Thursday Series! Register using https://tinyurl.com/2024SPOTS. This year the spring series will be a set of 7 in-person events in Greater Boston area parks.   Time: Start times are from 6:00 pm to 7:00pm on Thursday evenings

May 2: Franklin Park - Boston

May 23: Fresh Pond - Cambridge

May 30: Edmands Park - Newton

Jun 6: DCR Hammond Pond - Newton

Jun 13: Pine Banks - Malden

Pre-registration is required for all events no later than the Tuesday (2 days) before. You are in the right Spot now to pre-register for the full series or sign up for this weeks event. We will provide maps based on pre-registration.

Courses (3): Advanced, Beginner and Kiddo. These are short courses suitable for evening races so Advanced courses will be between 1.5-3.5 km with 10-15 minute winning times, while beginner courses will be between 1-2 km. The Kiddo course is designed for ages 6-10 and less than 1 km. Advanced course runners earn points at each completed event, with your best 4 event results added to calculate your series score and overall ranking.
 
Equipment: Maps will be provided, please bring your own SI timing stick or card, or SI cards and sticks will be available for purchase or loan. A compass is useful but optional.In general, public restrooms will not be available - please plan accordingly.
 
Fees:
 All the SPOTS: Full Series Registration: 

  • Standard fee: $35/person or $80/family; 
  • NEOC/CSU 2024 members: $20/person or $50/family

  One SPOT: Individual Event Registration: 

  • Standard fee: $7/person or $18/family:

*Note: Mary Cummings Park is a free event per our agreement with The Trustees

Results:

Overall times and split-times for each checkpoint will be available online after the event. Points will be awarded on the longer course, based on 20 points for 1st place, 19 points for 2nd place and so on regardless of age or gender. Your top 4 events count towards your total points score (i.e. 80 points max). Please complete this form for each person planning to attend (needed for map printing & waiver purposes).
